Sculptor, Donna Wilson created this piece of art as a memorial to her father, Stan Wilson. She was inspired by a poem that Stan had written – “A Man on His Horse on Top of a Ridge”. The poem says so much about the spirituality of the people who live in close contact with the land. As the horse and rider are carefully picking their way down a rocky trail, they are passing beneath an old lightning struck pine. They may not have noticed the cracked tree and the Old Rugged Cross deep in the bark but they have certainly felt the presence of the Creator in the land through which they are passing.

Repeat donors Love Bros. & Lee, offers this exceptional fly-fishing trip for two! The pristine wilderness of northern British Columbia is the setting for this fly fishing adventure in pursuit of wild, rainbow trout! These great fighting fish average about a pound each and are offered on catch and release basis (except for what you eat for lunch, of course). Each fisherman may expect to catch 50 to 75 fish a day. It is common to see moose feeding in the river and to observe a variety of birds ranging from Mergansers to Yellow Warblers. This is fly-fishing at its best! Fishermen may try an array of flies including muddler minnows, adams, wolffs, wooley worms, nymphs and hornbergs, etc. (Please, no hooks larger than #7s.) The successful bidder and a fishing partner will be guided on about 8 miles of the stream by boat and will have the chance to fish all types of water from fast riffles to deep, quiet pools. Camps are fully equipped. Rustic log cabins have bunks, foamies and wood heaters. Just bring your sleeping bag, waders, fishing equipment and personal gear! Hot showers with a “river” of water are available. Large home-cooked meals are served daily. Shore lunches with the tantalizing aroma of fresh trout baking on the coals are daily fare. This seven-day, fly-fishing trip is scheduled for July -August 2013 but may be deferred to the 2014 season with the mutual agreement of the outfitter. Fishermen are responsible for the cost of a fishing license (approximately $50) and tips. The trip arrival and departure point is Smithers, British Columbia. This trip may be upgraded to a hunting trip – the per-person value ($4,550) may be applied to the market cost of a Moose, Mt. Caribou or Mt. Goat. Additional fishermen are welcome at $4,550 each.

This beautiful bronze sculpture was commissioned in 2005 by an avid hunter and outdoorsman. He had just recently returned from a hunting trip to Northern British Columbia with Kawdy Outfitters (former NE MI SCI donor) where he had hunted a Grizzly Bear, Canada Moose and a Stone Sheep. He was so inspired by the majesty of the land and the animals that he wanted a bronze memento for his office desk.
Sculptor, Donna Wilson created the concept of the spiraling sheep horn symbolizing the circle of life. It frames the bear and his moose kill – the terrible yet beautiful ongoing life-death-life cycle of our wilderness and the creatures living there.
This magnificent piece of art is part a limited edition of ten pieces. It is 15.5 inches high, 18 inches long and 12.5 inches wide and includes the wood base.
